FIRST SEMESTER

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

I read my slides and made sure I left no stone unturned. Pay attention during lectures, solve past questions, participate in class and make sure you’re not distracted. This course can either improve your CWA easily or bring it down easily. Join a study group as well. They really help with explaining certain things you wouldn’t have understood on your own.

APPLIED ELECTRICITY

I can’t say much for applied electricity because I never really understood the concept. However, seek help from others when you don’t understand a concept and solve past questions too. You can make a personal time table for yourself too. Join a study group because they will help you understand some concepts easily.

TECHNICAL DRAWING

Practice more often. You can choose to use your leisure time to draw what you learnt after each lecture. I also went for the tutorial understand. Make sure you are in contact with the T.As because they really help. Do all your assignments and submit them on time. Don’t forget your title block too and get the right drawing sheet

ALGEBRA

Even though I didn’t really understand this course, I’d still say that it needs much time. Spend more time because it is an average booster. Some lecturers dint really teach so don’t rely on only lectures to pass your exam. This course is a 4-credit-hour course which means you should spend most of your time studying it.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY

I read my slides. Attended lectures and made notes during the lecture. Be sure to pay attention in class so that you can make your own notes alongside. When you don’t understand something ask for help. Join a study group and be a participating member. Don’t just sit there when you know you have a problem

INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Read your slides. Seek help from senior course mates. When I didn’t understand something I made sure I asked for help and solve past questions. Don’t pile up your notes because it’s suicidal; You wouldn’t know how to study for exams. Take your assignments seriously because they form part of your assessment.

PRACTICAL CHEMISTRY I

Practice more often. Go for lab works. Make sure you make a good lab report. Get a jotter for lab reports ,so you can, always, plan what you write in the lab report book. Pay attention in the lab because some of the answers to your assignments are said in class. Make sure you answer your prelab questions as well
